Garry pulled most of the time on the open road and led the way up the single track climb. We hit a bit of traffic here but mostly were able to squeeze past and continued pushing hard up a big big mountain. I was feeling terrific and thrilled with my legs as I watched the total ascent tick over pretty fast. The descent down "Flying Nun" was a real hoot, technical with some amazing rock armoured berms. The crowd were cheering too as we rode as fast as out courage would allow.
The Specialized Epic was again faultless as was the organisation from Lagardere Unlimited Oceania.
In the end we missed the podium by just 6 seconds which was both encouraging and a little heartbreaking but looking forward to seeing what comes about tomorrow. The main thing is we are riding well together and enjoying the event very much.
Finally verse of the day Malachi 3:10. Check it out, the guys certainly thought it providential as we devoured a delicious dinner.
Keep Riding
Mike
Selfie near top of climb, Garry says ride harder, less photos but I told him my skills are so good it doesn't slow me down 😜
